[A China Project study](http://www.nature.com/articles/nenergy201661) led by Prof. LU Xi (now at Tsinghua U.) and Project Chair Prof. Michael McELROY, comparing the challenges of wind power development in China and the U.S., is the [cover article of Nature Energy](http://www.nature.com/nenergy/volumes/1/issues/6). The paper decomposes factors contributing to wind power underperformance, including curtailment, differences in turbine quality, and delayed grid connection. The paper is also subject of a ["News and Views" commentary](http://www.nature.com/articles/nenergy201676) in the same issue by Joanna I. Lewis of Georgetown University. It is covered in [Bloomberg News here](https://www.bloombergquint.com/china/2016/06/28/trouble-in-renewable-energy-spotted-in-china-s-idled-wind-farms)[.](https://www.bloombergquint.com/china/2016/06/28/trouble-in-renewable-energy-spotted-in-china-s-idled-wind-farms) See also coverage of the article on [Tsinghua University's homepage](http://news.tsinghua.edu.cn/publish/thunews/10303/2016/20160615135051938848088/20160615135051938848088_.html) and on [Harvard SEAS news and events page](https://www.seas.harvard.edu/news/2016/08/amping-up-wind-energy-in-us-and-china).
