At the same time, many countries of the region are developing social and economic systems to better cope with climate impacts.

Despite these efforts, scientific research on the evolving capacities of social resilience to climate change is still underdeveloped. We invite participation in an “International Workshop on Climate-Resilient Development in Southeast Asia” to explore with colleagues from Southeast Asia whether, where, and how climate resilient development can be enhanced both in general and in their region.

	WORKSHOP THEMES

	Through a series of talks and poster presentations, the workshop aims to promote research exchange of scholars from multiple disciplines and of diverse regional expertise on the status and dynamics of climate resilience studies, as well as to generate policy-relevant knowledge regarding climate resilient development pathways in Southeast Asian countries.

	Workshop topics include, among others:

 Explorations of theories and scientific frameworks of climate resilience studies;

 Methods for assessing and/or modeling climate resilience;

 Social resilience to climate-related hazards in SE Asia, including floods, heat, drought, and sea-level rise;

 Case studies in SE Asia of indigenous knowledge and local-, regional- or country-level perspectives of climate resilience;

 Practical implementation of resilience measures across various sectors in SE Asia, e.g., food and agriculture, water and energy, transportation, settlement, as well as mental and physical health;

 Social, economic, technological, and political strategies for climate resilient development in SE Asia.

	WORKSHOP CONVENERS AND SPONSORS

The workshop is convened by the Harvard-China Project, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, the Harvard Asia Center, the Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia (all of Harvard University), and the STORIES Project of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
